Malcolm was the director of real estate at Scottish Widows Investment Partnership (SWIP) until June 2012 and was responsible for overseeing its portfolio of commercial property assets across the UK, Europe and North America.
He has more than 40 years’ experience of working in the real estate industry. Prior to joining SWIP, he was director and head of DTZ Investment Management, where he was responsible for business development in the UK and in international markets. He was also a founding partner of Jones Lang Wootton Fund Management, and UK managing director of LaSalle Investment Management. In 2002, he co-founded Fountain Capital Partners, a pan-European real estate investment manager and adviser.
He qualified as a chartered surveyor in 1976 and was Chairman of the Scottish Property Federation from 2010 to 2011.
Simon is Chief Executive Officer of Brooks Macdonald Funds and a director of Brooks Macdonald Group plc. He joined Brooks Macdonald as an executive director in a full-time capacity in February 2011, having been a non-executive director since 2002.
He has spent his entire career in the financial services industry and previous roles include Head of Sales and Marketing at Scottish Widows Investment Partnership, Managing Director of Newton Fund Managers Limited and Managing Director of Royal Bank of Scotland Unit Trust Managers.
He is an Associate of the Society of Investment Professionals.
Paul is Portfolio Manager at Old Mutual. He has more than 20 years’ investment experience, including 10 years at Exeter Investment Group and six years at New Star Asset Management, where he was a Director of the asset management subsidiary.
During the past 18 years, his focus has been multi-manager products with an emphasis on closed-end funds.
He is an Associate of the UK Society of Investment Professionals.
Brooks Macdonald Funds Limited (BMF) was appointed as our investment adviser in 2013. It is a fund management business and is a subsidiary of Brooks Macdonald Group plc, an AIM-listed, integrated wealth management group.
BMF has extensive experience in investing in the real estate sector, including ground rents, and expertise in acquiring and managing ground rent investments.
BMF is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority as a fund manager and as an operator of collective investment schemes.
James is Head of Specialist Funds, concentrating on fund management, property acquisition and financial relationship management. James has had lead responsibility for all aspects of Ground Rents Income Fund since launch, covering equity raising and shareholder communications, to asset sourcing, legal due diligence and valuation.
He is the alternate Director of each of Brooks Macdonald Funds’ offshore funds. His background is primarily investment banking, having previously worked at Barclays and Singer & Friedlander and focused on specialist real estate funding since 2004.
He has a BA (Hons) in Business and Marketing and attended Harvard Business School in 2010. He is a member of the Institute of Residential Property Managers (IRPM).
